Trying to do my due diligence. I’m doing initial research for a SAN for six editors. We work in DV25, XDCAM EX (1080p30) and DVCPRO HD. We figure no more than 4 streams per editor (and that would be incredibly rare, and maybe not even necessary)

DVCPRO HD is our fattest codec, at 100mbits. If I’m doing my math correctly, we should be able to do 4 streams of DVCPRO HD without any issues (400mbits over 1gbit ethernet leaves plenty of headroom). Am I wrong about this?

    Hi Josh,

I have been working with Robert on this for quite some time. Shoot me a call and I can fill you in on some of the things that we have been discussing.

Josh, 4 streams of DVCPRO HD or XDCAM EX are well handled by GbE. I’ve been able to get 3 streams of PRORES HQ over a single GbE connection on a MacBook Pro, using iSCSI to an EVO.

Sharp eye there.I thought Rob had been talking to you guys, but he’s been tied up and hasn’t had a chance to get back to me yet. I’ll give you a call next week.
