    For Bob Zelin:
When building your do it yourself SAN, do you think it would be possible to run Final Cut Server on the same Mac Pro as the media server? This would be a tricked out machine 8-16 Gigs of RAM, 8 cores, etc.
Final Cut server when used to the fullest is going to be using Compressor quite a bit, which is a big resource hog.
    Thanks in advance

don’t run compressor (or anything else) on your server computer.
Final Cut Studio is an application which runs on your clients.

You buy the multi seat FC server package. Let your server just sit there. You do NOT need a “tricked out” Server computer. A cheapo will do just fine.
