  • HELP! AE 6.5 crashes on NEW G5

Posted by Jetle25 on December 7, 2005 at 11:38 pm

I just bought a new g5 dual core 2.0 powermac. I had AE 6.5 Pro running on my powerbook and everything was workign fine except extremely slow when rendering things such as displacement maps. AE will crash on the G5 the moment I do a prerender. WHAT GIVES!!! Anybody ever have this problem? I’ve tried reinstalling it but now I have no choice but to test out another copy of 6.5 from a friend.

Does it just quit or is there a message error displayed? Also, do you have Quicktime 7 Pro installed? I’m not sure about Mac users but I know a lot of Windows users have had trouble with Quicktime 7.

It flat out quits. NO error message just says sorry AE has crashed. The files work fine on my laptop I dbl checked to see if they were corrupted. Its completely fine. But when I try to render anything on my Powerbook it goes dead. I have qt 7.01 on my laptop and g5. I did the transfer settings via firewire to my g5. well i’m trashing the preferences so i’ll see happens. thanks

Lets hope it is something stupid like hardware/software incompatibilities! I recently ordered a new Dual 2.3 so we’ll check it out together. Just goes to show ya- Never trust a guy in a turtleneck!

What did Adobe support say when you contacted them?
