  After effects CC layer options auto popping open

  I usually work with CS6 but using CC for a project. A few annoying little differences.

  The thing that is frustrating me today –

  If I have a precomp layer within a composition and I want to make this layer into a 3D layer, I click the 3D button little cube icon and for some reason the layer automatically pops open so I can see the transform options, material options and audio.

  I didn’t want to edit these things so I have to close the layer. It starts to get on my nerves closing layers like this after a while.

  Is there a way to stop after effects from automatically opening the layer options like this?

  It does the same thing with shape layers too.

  Any ideas?
