    Hi all,
I know I am a bit late to the party but I just bought a second hand Production Camera 4K. All I can say is WOW! Image quality is just mind blowing.
Managed to use it a bit in the last few days and I can’t get the “Frame Guides” to show.
In the manual I see a long list of “Frame Guides” but on my menu I don’t see any.
I have updated to the recent firmware.

    Please can anyone clarify?

    Thanks,
    Ofer

In the display menu setting (where you adjust zebra bars and LCD brightness), select which frame guide you would like to use, and then in the main menu area (where you can format disk and enter metadata) make sure Frame Guides is enabled-lit up.

Simply enabling frame guides won’t do anything as the default frame guide to show is nothing. You must select the formatting deeper in the menu. This way you can have the guide you like, but also switch it on and off quickly.

    Thanks Eric,

The thing is I don’t have any ‘Frame Guides’ options in the settings menu. When I press the ‘farme Guides’and it lits up – nothing is showing on the LCD.

    Cheers,

I posted this video on myself enabling the frame guides on my BMCC.

Make sure you are running current firmware, or at least v2.1 and up. Firmware must be downloaded from blackmagic with each new build.

    Thanks Eric for your help.
I realise I need to update the firmware as I can’t see the Frame Guides as my camera still running an older firmware.

    Cheers,
    Ofer

I am in the same boat, Just got used BMC 4K. Came here looking for frame guide help. First post was about the issue. Question is, how can you tell which firmware you are on?

    See:

The gist of it is that you can run the Blackmagic Cinema Camera Utility to check whether the firmware is up to date, but it doesn’t tell you what the installed version is.

I downloaded and updated, the frame guide option is now working. I did not get the option to delete the old firmware.
