Working with prores for VFX – having problem with clamped whites
I’m shooting a VFX heavy short-film with the Black Magic 4K Production camera.
I shot some tests using prores 422, but when I bring the clip into Nuke (or Premiere, or After Effects), all my highlights are clamped at 1, instead of having range beyond white.
I also tried using prores QTs from other people’s BM cameras, same problem. So it can’t be my camera.
I have a feeling I’m doing something wrong in my workflow.
Are prores Quicktimes only meant to be used in Final Cut and then exported as a DPX sequence? I tried viewing them on a PC and a Mac, but I don’t have Final Cut. I was hoping to edit everything in Premiere Pro, then export DPX sequences to do the VFX
Anyone experienced this problem with having no dynamic range with Prores QTs?
