  Lens mounts for MFT

  This may be a dumb question but I need to ask it. I’m waiting like everyone else for their Black Magic MFT mount camera to arrive. In the meantime, I’m picking up a few cinema lenses. Is there any benefit to getting nikon mounted glass versus canon? The lenses I am purchasing come with both mounts. I currently have a 7D so I figure it would be easier just to go canon and get an EF to MFT mount when my camera arrives. It makes more sense than having to purchase multiple mounts, but I want to make sure there isn’t some weird little thing that I’ve overlooked.

  Hi Michael: I’m fairly certain that as long as the “cinema lenses” you’re buying are fully manual/mechanical lenses, without electrical contacts on their lens mount, it won’t make a difference if they have a EF or Nikon mount — for adapting them to the BMCC-MFT’s passive lens mount.

  Since you also have a 7D, it’ll probably be very useful if the new lenses have EF mounts, since you could use them on both cameras (including on the 7D w/o a lens mount adapter).
