True, but one will need to buy some relatively expensive accessories to configure a shoot-ready RED camera system.

Typically far more expensive than a basic shoot-ready BMCC system (which can be as simple as adding a lens plus a fairly generic SSD drive). Additional accessories for the BMCC are non-proprietary, priced competitively, and available from a wide variety of 3rd parties. The hard part of course is getting ones hands on the BMCC itself, unfortunately.

But, yes, the new RED pricing is welcome. Good competition for Sony & Canon!

true, and pricing for used red one accessories will likely go up in price (until yesterday, you literally could not give the stuff away)
but if you need a camera now. and high speed etc etc….

Paul – I’m really no expert on Red. We’ve hired it in and shot with ready supplied kits before but not looked at purchasing.

If someone went for the Red One MX package, how much extra would you have to spend to start shooting?
