  Pull-down

  Just trying to get my head around frame rates.

  Say I shoot video at 23.976 frames per second and want to deliver it in 29.97 – is it necessary for me to transcode all the video clips before editing?

  Or can I simply edit at 23.976 and then select a frame rate of 29.97 in my export settings and allow AME to handle the pull-down that way?

  That might work.

  What I know does definitely work and I’ve done it lots of times
  is to make a new 29.97 sequence (sequences cannot be changed once made)

  go back to the 23.976 sequence, select all, copy then paste
  into the 29.97 then encode with AME. That will add the pulldown

  Adobe Media Encoder doesn’t add pulldown.

  In the scenario that Chris describes, you will get a frame blending operation, but not the mixing of one filed from one frame with another field from a different frame that is the essence of pulldown.
