So I am looking to get a new mac that is optimized for compressing/encoding etc video. Our old 2008 MP at work has finally crashed and we have a decent budget for a new system.

Does AMe cs6 utilize GPU acceleration for encoding? Should I get a quadro 4000 to put into a new mac? I also read about Elemental software that speeds up encoding (but it seems like this might be obsolete by now as it was originally for cs4).

Most of the encodes go from 10-bit uncompressed or ProRes to H264 or MPEG2 and sometimes some flavor of wmv.

Is there a more efficient piece of software (than AME) that better utilizes the computer’s resources to encode?

    Thanks, let me know.
