  Viewer wide screen when editing

  So they is a pretty amateur question but I can’t find the solution anywhere else. Would really appreciate some help. When I edit 4k footage, my viewer is small compared to when I see other people’s timeline that has it wide screen or filled to the frame. I tried fixing aspect ratio, shooting different 4k footage, and “fit” option but idk how to fix or change it. I always have lots of filler gray space next to my viewer. Its hard to explain so please see BOTH pictures for reference, Thank so much.

  (sorry im an editing newbie when it comes to fcpx. very used to premiere pro)
