  Imported footage shows solid green screen

  Whenever I try to import footage into FCPX from a particular cameraman who uses a Sony PMW-350 I get a solid green screen on all the clips. My software is up to date and I have all the Sony plugins. I’m using OSX 10.13.6 and FCPX 10.4.3

  I end up having to use a video converter software to convert the footage to ProRes and then I can import it.

  How can I get Final Cut to recognize this footage right away ?

  What is the format/codec the cameraman is giving you originally? This Sony camera shoots XDCAM, DVCAM, MPEG4, and MPEG-2, with variable rates.

  Asking FCPX to handle some or all of that transcoding in the background during ingest is probably not the best way to go.

  Compressor should be able to handle all of them, though. Probably what I’d try is to set up a preset batch mode in Compressor and then set Compresssor to hand-off transcoded prores files to your FCPX media drive, before import. Compressor and FCPX are designed to work together this way.

  You could also try using FFworks if you don’t own Compressor.
