  • Weird Wacom Problem in FCP X does anyone else have this too?

Posted by Gunnar Selm on January 8, 2018 at 3:03 pm

    Hi all,

i recently purchased FCP X and am pretty exited about it.

But i have one issue with my Wacom tablet. Somehow i am not able to click and drag a clip to “over the end” end of the timeline.
Click and drag the clip so that the timeline will scroll horizontally. It works fine with the mouse, and in pen mode of the Wacom.

    Does anyone have this?

I am on a Mac Pro late 2013 with intous 3 and tested also an intous 4.

    Any input is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks and greetings from Germany,
    Gunnar

[Gunnar Selm] “Somehow i am not able to click and drag a clip to “over the end” end of the timeline.”

Can you explain what this means? I use wacoms but I’m unsure of what “over the end” end means.

    Hi Jeremy,

    thanks for tanking the time.

When you drag an clip to the end off the timeline, say to place it at the very end of the timeline. And The timeline is zoomed in so it is not full visible. It should scroll horizontally.

I’ve made a clip to show you.

    Thanks again,

Yes, can confirm the same problem with an Intuos 5 Touch. Also trying to look at 360 clips in the viewer doesn’t work.
The clip will rotate quickly as soon as you click on it making it difficult to position.

Do you have it set to function like a mouse or is it set to a pixel to pixel mapping? That’d be my guess.

    HI,
jes, in the wacom mouse mode it works fine.

Though i like work in pixel to pixel mode, and better live with this behavior than use the other mode ????

I was just wondering , since other apps (premiere , Resolve) do not have this issue.

    Best, Gunnar

    Great call, Brett.

I use my Wacom in mouse mode so that’s why I wasn’t seeing the problem! 🙂
