Hi All – I’ve been cutting a project on my MBP 2.7GHz 16GB RAM GeForce GT 650M 1024MB graphics.
The timeline consists of a 2 angle multi cam clip, one of which is 4k, the other 1080p, all prores.

It plays back fine on the laptop.

When i move to my iMac 4K, 2GB graphics, 32MB RAM (i.e. a much more powerful computer), the project won’t play without lots of dropped frames.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks guys and gals.

This may be kind of obvious so you might’ve already done these things but….

    – set the View menu to “Better Performance” and to use Proxy media if there is proxy media

    – if there is not proxy media transcode clips to create proxy media

    – maybe set Preferences to create optimized media for Multicam clips since you say you’re using multicam ?
    – set prefs not to stop and warn if the occasional dropped frame becomes too distracting

Hi Dirk – sorry I meant to say that it plays back fine with optimised media on the MBP.

Closing the angle viewer seems to have made the issue go away.

    Thanks again
