Masking in Final Cut Pro X
Hi Guys,
I wondered if you could help with the best way of going about this type of mask in final cut.
I would like to create 3 triangles, with 3 different videos playing. I have been able to create the mask but when I try and scale/position my footage, the mask is moved/resized instead of the footage. Is there a way I can do this, create the mask and then position my images within the mask?

Probably with enough fiddling but to be honest- this is perfect for Motion.

The mask is attached to the video, so, yeah, it’ll move with it. Which is why you would need to either move THE CLIP first THEN mask it, or move the clip and simply readjust/move the mask.
There’s no easy solution that I can think of within FCP. That’s what either Motion is for, where you can make your own template using drop zones, or 3rd party plugins that do a split screen effect. Of which there are many. E.g. mFrame: https://www.motionvfx.com/mplugs-96.html (check out the 19th template in the list).
