  • Overwrite edit on clip in secondary storyline

As much as I love FCPX there are a few things that really irritate me. One of them is trying to replace a clip in a secondary storyline. I want to set in and out points on the clip I want overwrite only to disover they migrate to the primary storyline. This is not what I want! I know you click on the shelf of the secondary storyline but I want to set the points on the clip itself not the one in the browser. Is there something I am missing or should I switch to something else?

Select the clip you want to replace in the timeline, then set an in point on the incoming clip in the browser, and option-r to replace from start.

I also found the range tool works as well. I need to stop pushing the button to see what happens next. LOL

That was going to be my next suggestion, but the select and replace from start is faster for me.
