Workflow – FCP 10.2.3 Multicam shoot with separate audio files
I am preparing to edit my first multi-cam shoot with audio files (5 tracks) recorded separately on the Zoom F8. I am not sure of the most efficient way to establish preceding sync between the external tracks and video, prior to the multi-cam edit.
Is it best to sync the 5 audio tracks to both camera’s files individually, and then generate a multicam clip? That seems to be the most bullet-proof way to avoid a loss of sync, as I switch between, and then trim camera angles.

You want to keep the audio as it’s own angle, there isn’t any reason to sync to both cameras first. and it gets messy.
The method I use is to first give each camera an angle in the inspector. “A” for cam 1 “B” for cam 2 and for the audio file “Z” so it’s the bottom angle.
To save time, set the roles for your mics before you sync the clips if you plan on sending off to audio, it saves time later.
Then sync the multicam clips with these settings.
This is assuming you aren’t jam syncing timecode, if you did, then just uncheck audio and select timecode under angle sync.
