    Hello all,
Again illustrator import is giving me trouble with afx.
Basically i have about 190 illustrator files that have 4-5 text layers each.
I need each of these text layers to do a rotation on their axis.
So i (stupidely) assumed the import illustrator as cropped layers option would do it.
Well it does import all layers and crops them.
    BUT…
It crops them all wrong, the text gets cut on sides.
Now the thing is that i’d rather:
1.not reedit all illustrator files to create outlines, since moreover, i might have to reedit the text later(minor changes)
2.not have to do 1 precomp for each illustrator layer manually and resize it manually…

Now the question is… is it possible to get the cropped-layer import to work proper even with text layers(not cutting them)?
Alternatively, is there a way to auto-precomp-and-cut-to-the-right-borders so that i get pre-comps without having to do them completly manually.
One more alternative would be a way to auto-expand-everything on a batch of illustrator files. There isnt much complex stuff in the illustrator, so a simple batch tool could work i guess.

    Anyway,

    That’s about it.
    Thanks for any help,

    Paul-Kenji Cahier

Are you using crop marks? Does the text have a gradient applied? Are you using CS1 or CS2? If you like you can email me one of the AI files and I’ll test it out here on my system – john@motionworks.com.au
