FCPX 10.2.3 freezes when I make text edits
So I have a lot of text in my timeline. I go and try to make a change and I get the pinwheel of death. Every time. I delete the text, put new text, even copy and paste… and boom it freezes. Every time!! Tried a different project same thing happen. Anyone got any ideas as to why this keeps happening? Love your help on this one.

I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the font just to check and see. Nothing happens the font in question is Helvetica Neue.

When odd things like that have happened to me, I tried copying the entire contents of the timeline and pasting into a new one. This has helped a few times, indicating something went awry in the database part of a project.

I get this occasionally as well on different projects, the main thing that seems to set it of is block deleting text in the inspector! I just use backspace to delete character by character and it doesn’t do it. I’ve trashed prefs and reinstalled but it still happens.

There is definitely an issue here – when deleting text
either backspacing
or “pasting over” using text selected in another programme such as Word
or FnBackspace for a selection.It’s crashing nearly every time – making subtitling a real pain in the ….
Did anyone ever find a solution? I’m using FCP 10.2.3
