I just go a new MacPro desktop for the office. You know the one that looks like a cup. We’re running FCPX.

My spec are: 3,7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5
    12 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 ECC
    AMD FirePro D300 2048 MB
    Apple Thunderbolt Display

Just want to know the optimizing spec I should me using to run FCPX the best. I am updating the Ram to 64Gb next week. As well as a 1Tb SSD

There’s really not much else to optimise. With FCPX it’s GPU, RAM, and external drive speed, probably in that order.

Its how fast you can get files on and off your external storage that’s usually the biggest bottleneck when it comes to editing.

Thanks you Jeff that helps a lot. At the moment we’re working off USB 3.0 external hard drives. Would thunderbolt 2 be the best option or is there something better I need to consider? Apart from using the SSD internal drive.
