Subtitles in FCPX, or extern program?
Hello everyone,
we are using FCPX mainly for our productions. In the coming months we’ll have to apply many subtitles to our videos. Is there a program that makes the subtitling faster and easier, than FCPX?
What would you recommend?We’re mostly using Mac Book Pro’s with 16GB RAM but this is full under FCPX after 30 Minutes of Work or 100 “Titles”.

there are also many good softwares on the app store: search for SRT … I mostly use
Final SRT , SRT edit Pro, SRT converter , Subtitle Writer, Subs Factoty depending of the situation, you can also convert SRT to SCC caption and embed closed caption with “Compressor”

SCC is for the NTSC world.
Compressor with the MXF Apple component can’t create embedded subtitles with the MXF. There are some US broadcasters (like Fox) who also accept EBU TTML as sidecar files.
EBU is European but in a modern world DF and NDF frame rates don’t matter any more.With FCPX use a simple (sub)title template which doesn’t “eat” too much memory. The Apple Basic Title is hungry.
Many users see speed and memory improvements if the subtitles are in a compound clip.
This has to do with FCPX’s memory handling – it keeps undo memory buffer for each and every title with all settings.-Andreas
