  • Export Roles as Multitrack Quicktime – 1 Stereo 2 Monos LUFS problems?

    Hi all,

I delivered a season of shows last June which required Pro Res files with 1 stereo track and 2 mono tracks of the same (no M&E, just mono print of the same stereo).

I originally created two separate audio clips of the final mix WAV in the timeline – one for the stereo and one for the mono channels.

But it occurred to me that I should be able to use roles to do the same thing as a multitrack Quicktime file. So I tried using just the stereo mix as the only role, and then made three iterations of it in the multitrack export pane:

    Stereo Mix – Stereo
    Stereo Mix – Mono
    Stereo Mix – Mono

This worked and gave me a proper 4 channel Pro Res file, but when I listened back in my DAW with a LUFS monitor active, the mono tracks were 3db louder than the stereo, when they should be -3db softer. Has anyone figured out a way to do this? FCP 7 always had an option to lower the mono tracks -3db…

    Thanks!
