  • Intermittent audio clicks on playback — not present in export

Posted by Bruce Byker james on October 28, 2015 at 12:27 am

I’m experiencing an odd problem. I hear audio clicks at cuts SOMETIMES, but not always, during playback. For any particular cut that I have already created a crossfade for (expand audio, overlap clips, drag fade handles) I hear an audio click over half the time I play it back. The clicks don’t always sound the same, either. I tried listening through just my Macbook Pro speakers to see if it was somehow happening outside my computer, but it’s still there.

When I play back in slow motion there’s NEVER a click. When I export (master file) a few seconds on either side of the cut, there’s NEVER a click.

Any ideas what this could be?

    Thanks,

    – Bruce

What’s the source? This typically happens with sample rate errors- i.e. MP3, non-AIF sources.

    It’s LPCM 24-bit, 48kHz from a Sony PXW-X70.

I just installed El Capitan (coming from Yosemite) and now the problem is gone. I have no idea if that had anything to do with it—perhaps just restarting did it, which I don’t think I had tried.
