3D text like this
i wasn’t that excited when FCPX ADDED 3D text, but there are times when it adds a nice element to my videos.
However the limited movement you can apply in FCPX makes me not use it as much. It’s easy to rotate and olace the 3D text in FCP, but you can’t create key frames and animate it.
This looks tempting and with the Halloween discount it’s about $23.
Shirt if going into Motion every time I want to add a 3D title, what do others do to animate the text?

And what’s wrong with using Motion? It seems to do everything this controller thingie does already. The round trip doesn’t seem that big a burden to me.

Open a copy in Motion and publish the transform parameters. Save As and put it in its own folder. Works fine.

Are you using the custom 3D title generator? You can animate just about every aspect imaginable without key framing.
