Hi all. I’m quite new to FCP X. I’ve been editing a video and have the first draft done. I want to experiment with some different edits so thought I would make a duplicate of the project. When I did this and made an edit on the duplicate I could also see that the original project had the same edits applied. I don’t have any compound clips in my project. It’s just one timeline of footage trimmed and a text outro. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

What I’m trying to achieve is two different edits using the same imported media in the same event folder. Is this possible?

Choose ‘Duplicate project as Snapshot’ and it will create a completely unique project, even if you have compound clips.

I’m guessing you duplicated the project and just kept editing in the original, thinking you were working in the duplicate. Did you open the duplicate?

Thanks, this has solved the problem 🙂
