After Effects paper fold.
I am looking to achieve a folding paper effect in after effects such as the one in the video (0.40 onwards).

I don’t recall seeing a tut on this but you can assemble it yourself – it will just take some time. Create your squares and make them 3D. Use the ‘pan behind’ tool (Y on the keyboard) to move the axis point to the edge you want the square to rotate on. Then put them all in place first. Rotate them 90 degrees on the Y or X axis to disappear and rotate them to 0 degrees to show. To get the bounce effect, check out Dan Ebbert’s site. He has an expression that will do this quickly.

Do you think the way it pans down the unfolding images is done with a camera?

Yep. The easy way to set that up is to create a new camera and a new null object. Parent the camera to the null and then only animate the null. The reason for this is that the camera has two parameters that are difficult to get just right sometimes, but using a null eliminates that problem.
