  Hello

  I wonder if somebody might enlighten me. I’ve got a bunch of stills, cut to music … I guess you know the kind of thing. It is a bit cheesy. I’m sure I saw a tip from Bret sometime ago about how to smooth them out as they kind of jar to and end before the cut..

  What can I do please to smooth those moves out a bit?

  Change the interpolation setting to ease in/ease out, or manually make bezier curves. Keyword search those in the manual for details.

  Thanks for this. I just find ease in and ease out can still be rather jumpy. Wondered if there was another way.

  James, I tend to overlap my clips so that the move is hidden in the dissolve. If that makes sense.

  I want the move already in motion under the other clip so that when the transition occurs you miss that kind of rough start.

  Thanks. Trouble is I’m cutting!

  The odd thing is it doesn’t happen every time. Usually the default ease in ease out works fine but occasionally it jars. Little bitty bug in there maybe?

  Does it kind of stutter a little?

  What I have found is that if the file size of my still that I’m using is too large it won’t be as smooth for me.

  I don’t have a new tube so I just chalked it up to that, but I’m not sure.

  I have used a ton of pics on my doc and most have been fine.

  ate you using the ken burns controls? There is a plug called Ken Burns from FCP effects that I find invaluable for this stuff.

  Thanks Bret didn’t know about that I will look into it.

  Wonder if I can use them after the fact. Job now completed but I’d love to smooth a couple of them up.

  Not really. They’re basically preset moves. You can of course adjust them completely. But they give you a bunch of presets like zoom in and down. Pan up and right. Etc. and either with or without easing. I’ve found they work really well as is usually.
