  Basic question for a newbie: why is the “Sort by” search option greyed out?

  I’m learning this program. A basic questions: I was doing a Lynda tutorial today about search functions. I could select events and have options for grouping them. But when I clicked the gear button and tried to use the “Sort by” option, it was always greyed out. Thoughts?

  The sort by function depends on whether you’re viewing clips in list or thumbnail view.
