    Hi Everybody,

I face some weird problem: I run FCPX 10.0.9 on 10.8.4. Mac OS (Not upgraded yet, connected to HacMac, more intensive upgrade procedure, no time so far).
Until FCPX ran like a Beast. I have external monitor connected over BlackMagic Mini Monitor (Thunderbolt).
Even with preferences set to high Qulaity instead of Better Performance it was running great.
Since yesterday, even when I set to “Better Performance” the footage (transcoded), please, a bit skippy and choppy.
Any idea where this could occur from?

    Thanx.

    Greetings,

I had a similar problem, but with AJA T-Tap playback. Turned out to be AJA firmware/software. AJA gave me a new beta version of the drivers & all is now well. Suggest you contact BlackMagic etc support & start there. Best of luck.

Are you saying it worked one day but not the next without you changing anything?

No. It was after I updated to OS 10.10.1 (Mac).

    Sorry.

I meant to ask the question to Sascha.

    Apologies.

Basically yes, one day it was fine, next day not.
Just started a new project, but no upgrade or any new installations.
I narrowed it down: when I switch the preview on external monitor (A/V out) to the mini monitor off inside X, it runs smooth. When it’s on, it doesn’t.

Then I would follow what Chris is saying, and also make sure that your format and frame rate match the settings in the Blackmagic system prefs.

    I’ll do that, thanx.
And yes, of course the settings in the preferences Blackmagic driver was the first thing I checked.

    10.0.9 isn’t as smooth as 10.1, overall.

Editing with the inspector closed helps, as does trashing the thumbnails/cache and rebuilding them.

Editing with closed inspector I knew, but not about thumbnail trashing. Where are they and do I trash them, when the app is closed or through X?

    It’s been so long, I don’t remember! 🙂

In 10.1, it’s done through the file menu, but I think it may be best to close FCPX, and go in to the Final Cut Events folder, and trash the event thumbnails there, and then in the same in the Project folder.
