Unable to backup FCPX library package?
Posted by James Culbertson on November 5, 2014 at 7:49 pmI am trying to copy a large FCPX library package from one Pegasus R4 8GB array to another identical Pegasus array to free up space. The copy fails part way through whether I am doing a finder copy or using Chronosync. I have tried other library packages with similar results. I get an error -50 some of the time.
I am running Disksomnia. I have not had this problems before.
Any suggestions?
OSX 10.9.2 on a new Mac Cylinder.

November 5, 2014 at 9:24 pmIt’s more than one library. One is in the 300GB range the other in the 600GB range… just AVCHD (and some GoPro) interview footage for the most part.

If that doesn’t work, I’d try and use FCPX to make a new library on the destination drive, and then consolidate the media to the new drive/Library.

Well, For what it’s worth, here’s what that is…
paramErr = -50, /*error in user parameter list*/

November 6, 2014 at 3:28 amI think 10.9.3 was supposed to clear this up, but I can’t remember.

November 7, 2014 at 12:57 am10.9.5 did not fix things. I cannot copy large files to or from either Pegasus array or to or from any other external drive (via thunderbolt, USB3, or Firewire).
I can copy between other external drives without issue.
In the near term I am going to have to work off of a portable La Cie Rugged Thunderbolt drive.

November 7, 2014 at 1:14 amWait, this drive won’t accept large files at all? This isn’t localized to just one Library?
Sorry, your post is confusing.

Ah, sorry. This is all finder related copying (not internal FCPX). I also tried using ChronoSync as that has sometimes been more dependable in the past. It effects multiple FCPX library packages on both drives (not sure if it is all libraries). I also cannot copy large AVCHD archives onto the drives at this point. …waiting to hear from Promise tech support.
