    I’m shooting on a borrowed PMW500 shooting XDcam 35.

I installed the latest SxS driver from Sony (1.1.2.10220)
I also installed the FCPX camera plug in (PDZK-LT2).

I’m using a MBP 17″ duo core, mid 2010. It’s a great workhorse. It has the mini express port so I can slide the SxS card right into the computer.

I’m using the latest Mavericks and the latest FCPX.

The media shows up in the import window in FCPX! That’s great. However, the transfer is taking forever. I think it’s worse than real time.

I’m just trying to drag the files from the SxS card to a folder on my HD using finder, and 13gb is showing 42 minutes for the transfer! This should just take a few minutes.

I tried using XDCam Transfer to re-wrap the footage from the card, and the progress window indicated it was transferring at .9 real time. Yikes.

The cards are formatted UDF. Would that make such a difference?

I used the same kind of camera and laptop in February, and I marveled at how fast the footage flew in. Are things just that different in Mavericks? Could I have been using Fat formatted cards? Could I be overlooking something??

I can’t believe 13gb would take that long to transfer using finder!

    Thanks in advance!

    NVM

I finally discovered the UDF driver, which is apparently different from the SxS device driver.

I wish there was one place where Sony would put all of these things.

13gb from UDF is now transferring in about a minute.

    Bliss!

I find this to be the most current and up to date collection. It’s definitely bookmarked!

Did you get your DNxHD movie out?

Thanks for the link. I find it difficult to navigate the sony web experience, but I absolutely love it when the stuff works!

And yes, I got my DNxHD files exported. It’s not a compressor setting that I can easily spit out from FCPX.

As I said… when stuff works!
