Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera – firmware 1.8 – ProRes Recording
FCPX 10.1.2
OS 10.9.4• In FCPX create Camera Archive on my dedicated Media Drive from BMPCC card.
• Attempt to import clips from Archive on Media Drive into FCPX.
• All clips show the same duration and video as the first clip in the Archive list in FCPX Import list. The names remain correct though.
• Importing results in only the first clip coming in even when all are selected.
• I notice that all previous Archives from BMPCC including those in which camera had previous firmware and earlier FCPX versions and previous Mavericks versions, show same issue whereas they were correct previously.
• Archives from AVCHD cameras on same Media Drive are fine.
• Open the individual Archives with show Package Contents show all clips are still there with correct durations.
* Create folder and copy files from BMPCC card and those are correct so issue is specifically FCPX Archive function and .plist it creates it seems. Oddly previous good BMPCC Archives have issue as well so it seems “retroactive.”
• Right now my only guess is some very odd thing might have impacted all BMPCC camera archive .plist as improbable as that sounds.
From Card looks correct.
From Archive all clips have same in/out (that of first clip)

Also seeing this on another system with FCPX 10.1.1 and OS 10.9.3.

Blackmagic contacted me and they confirmed the issue.
Odd that no one has reported it.
I’d think BM Camera ProRes to FCPX Archive would be somewhat common. -
Yes, I unfortunately can confirm. FCP is clearly doing something very wrong with the XML. Have reported it.

Thanks so much for for the confirmation Robin and reporting to Apple. I’ve also reported it to Apple.
Now confirmed on three systems for me.BMD got back to me again reporting that they’ve now tested on different OSX and FCPX versions and all are showing the issue.
Basically FCPX can’t read properly its own FCArchMetadata.plist specific to the Blackmagic Camera Archives. Unfortunately there’s no way to rebuild this .plist either.
Let’s hope Apple and BMD communicate on this since it’s specific to FCPX Camera Archive and BMD.

New Firmware just came out this AM too. Adding to cDNG and ProResHQ is
ProRes, ProResLT, ProResProxy. At LT a 64GB card about 100 minutes. -

I won’t even bother to think about what just a simple *SD* camera of that (vaguely comparable) calibre cost me just a mere 10 years ago. It’s depressing. Them thar young whipper-snappers don’t know what an easy (and cheap!) life they lead, I tell ya!! 😉

Oh, I remember paying 1200 or so for a refurbished Hi8 so I could take “broadcast quality” consumer videos.
I also remember borrowing the $40k betacamsp from work to shoot wedding videos and concerts!

Well, I actually bought the recorders. Still have a studio S-VHS (with TBC and all) and a “cheap” UVW-1800P standing here gathering dust. All in all about $30K+ worth of dust. Missed the window for selling them. *sigh*
