  • Sort clips by name across multiple Events

I thought FCPX did this and this morning can’t remember how to do it or perhaps it never did. I have multiple events in a library and would like to be able to sort all the clips by name, however it is sorting by event name first then clip name within each event. I thought I could do this by selecting just the library and not individual events? If I try View/Browser/Sort by Name is selected however it is greyed out.

Trying to keep track of DSLR clip names and what clips have been imported and what has not.

Make sure Group Clips By> is set to None.

Thanks for the reply James. Yes I have grouping set to none. However still showing Events > Clips and not able to sort by name across the entire library.

There is also a setting in the Import window, where you can hide already imported clips.

This is one of the biggest downsides of the new Library system, in that, the Library doesn’t really allow a lot of “across Event” sorting and keywording.

This could be better, I’d send some feedback to Apple.
