  • FCPX Exporting Issues; Wont export since Mavericks

Posted by Matt Thomas on May 22, 2014 at 3:34 pm

Recently upgraded to Mavericks and ever since when I go to export a project in FCPX it won’t work. More specifically, I can click the export option in the share menu and then nothing will happen. The options aren’t grey, the render doesn’t stop half way through, simply nothing happens when I try to use the export option ( command+E either)

Is this another Mavericks bug? Does anyone else have this problem? Am I just drunk and not doing something correctly all of the sudden??!

    THANKS!

PS: Preventing App Nap didn’t help my situation

[Matt Thomas] “Am I just drunk and not doing something correctly all of the sudden??! “

Well, how much have you had to drink???

Did you do a clean install of Mavericks or simply update it?

A clean install seems to be the most reliable way to go for best functionality.

I’m pretty sure it was just an update. Direct from the “hey you should update your OS” notification email.

Any info on how to revert to clean install and try to fix the issues?

First, make sure anything you need is backed up off of your drive.

Then you boot to the Recovery partition (restart and hold command-r)

Go to the Disk Utility and wipe the drive clean (again this will delete your drive, so make sure all your stuff is all the way backed up), then chose the option to install Mavericks.

    Wait a while.

    Reinstall your apps and data.

I agree that a clean install is best practice. However you might try a simple reinstall of FCP X first.

The simple reinstall cleared up the lag and glitching in FCP X on both my nMP and my rMBP.
