Having trouble uploading spots to Cablevision
Having trouble uploading broadcast spots to Cablevision. They require 29.97fps…makes sense. We shot 30p, FCPX timeline reads 29.97…exported Quicktime H.264 reads as 29.97 but Cablevision says that their encoder sees “original frame rate” as 59.94

59.94 is 29.97.
29.97 is 59.94 divided by 2. Both are interlaced formats.
You can try to force re encode them with a custom compressor preset.

I appreciate the reply. What would you suggest? The settings in Compressor are already set to 29.97

What is the raster?

If it is interlaced HD it should read 59.94, That is correct.
If it is SD then it should read 29.97
What tool are they reading it with? Are they having issues?

I use a Canon XA20 and it shoots 59.94p (interlaced) When I compress and send to Vimeo, I get the message that the frame rate is 59.94 and should be 30 p. Quicktime has no problem and it plays correctly, but I haven’t figured out how to “relabel” or compress it to fix this. Frankly calling it 59.94p is confusing. In the past it was called 1080i.

I have never seen an interlaced SD or HD format called 59.94, it’s always 29.97.
1080i = 29.97
Some video manufacturing companies call it that, but typically, broadcasters use frame rates. NLE’s typically use frame rates.
If it is 720p, then yes, it’s 59.94p
59.94, for SD and 1080 HD is a FIELD rate, not a frame rate.
59.94p is a frame rate for 720p

I looked at a couple of videos that were listed as 59.54 p and you are correct sir! They were compressed to 720 p and are interpreted by the inspector at 59.94 p. Does that imply the playback frame rate is actually 59.94 p? These started out as what Canon calls 59.94i at 1080 resolution. Just to make things confusing the camera can shoot at a “shooting” frame rate of 59.94P and play back at 29.97P for overcranking by a factor of 2 or even 59.94 P shooting and 23.98 P playback for an overcranking rate of 5 to 2.

Does cablevision want 720p or 1080i?
What settings are you using for export?
