View Source List..Seems simple with the Metadata..but no.
So,
I’m at the end of a long edit and I am prepping all the DCP stuff for post. Want to generate a simple source list so I can create a volume with all the R3D sources used in the EDIT.
It seems so simple, like in the days of EDL where you could just see a source list.
As in a printable list, or even an onscreen list of all the sources used in the EDIT, like.
1. Source footage
2. ImagesI know all of the information is there, I just want to see it and sort it in a simple and effective way.
PS: the timeline index only sorts by TC position in the timeline and all I am looking to do is sort the clips in the timeline but alphabetical source. Seems pretty simple, so I am sure I must be missing something.Battistella

Hi David, I just ran it on 10.9.2, works fine. EDL X will also do this, but isn’t free…

I can not see why such a meta data rich piece of software can not “reverse view” the data. I mean, all of the clips in used in a project? It’s a no brainer to be able to create and display that list of sources.
User should be able to sort, color code, print, etc. at some point (generally at picture lock) all of the work in the editing room becomes administrative. The software should have the administrative component, especially since it is so powerful at the ingest stage.
I’ve submitted feedback on this. I encourage other to request this from apple.
I regard it as a top priority item in a professional tool. The consolidate and bin sifting features in avid comes to mind.

Here is something close to the text I submitted
View source list.
When I have completed my edit and am doing prep for other departments, sound, picture, vfx, etc., I want to be able to see a source list (much better than the timeline index. I want to be able to generate a printable list of every piece of media in the timeline. Have it show used media with fields to sort by name, type and timecode. I should not have to go outside of FCP X to do this.______________________________

As a follow up.
myFiles is an excellent little utility that works well and serves the purpose.
I still think it would be great to be able to do this within the software.
