  Hello

  I have been shooting in a kitchen and there is a constant low rattling noise which I think must come from the extractor fan.

  Background Noise Reduced in FCPX seems to cause the cook’s voice to distort.

  Anyone got any ideas for Audio filters hat might help.

  The world of audio is a black art to me.

  That kind of problem is a challenge. Most background noise reduction plugins won’t work well because the noise isn’t random. Depending on the dominant frequency of the sound, EQ might help. It’s possible iZotope RX3 might help if the noise can be discerned visibly in its display.

  The sound remover tool in Audition CC should be deal with it. I’ve had great success on ceiling fans in the past.
