    Hello all,

I’m battling an issue with exporting or even just rendering my FCPX timeline. Activity Monitor shows me using a measly 30-40% of my CPU power for the export. Sending to Compressor uses ~165%, but that’s still leaving about 60% of my CPU idle. A 4 minute export is taking upwards of 2 to 3 hours. Restarting, trashing preference files and dragging source media to internal disk space have all proven fruitless.

Here are my computer and project specs:

    27″ iMac (mid-2011)
    3.4GHz
    16GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB VRAM
    10.9.1

4 minute, 1080p timeline, DSLR and JPG photos

    Thanks in advance 🙂

    Is it using the GPU?

I’m using Magic Bullet Looks for some light grades, but I tried duplicating the project and removing all effects, and still had the same issue.

I was unable to monitor my GPU usage, but I’ve downloaded a utility and hope to test it.

Exporting a separate project on different machine utilizes 700-800% of my CPU usage, so I’m doubting it relies solely on the GPU for encoding (as I’ve read on other forums/threads).

Am I wrong if I identify the issue as FCPX not properly hyperthreading?
