  Render for Avid Xpress Pro

  Hi,
  I am creating an animation in AE for a 16×9 DVcam project edited in Avid Xpress Pro. My question is: What settings do I use when I want render out the final animation from AE to play in the Avid timeline for master playout to tape? Do I use DV settings and OMF or what?

  As always, use the CODEC that is proprietary to your i/o card or device. Using anything else will result in recompression and re-rendering during import into the editing application.

  Thanks for the answer. I’m not sure though what you mean by I/O device or card? Colud you be more specific? I’m sorry but this is the first time I export to Avid so…

  I/O is a short-hand way of writing/saying input/output. In this case since you’re sending the AE rendered file to an Avid system (your I/O device), it is best to render to that system using it’s proprietary CODEC.

  … and if the I/O card is the onboard Firewire, then the codec is DV.
