After installing Final Cut Pro x 10.1 it won’t open.
After installing Final Cut Pro x 10.1 it won’t open (it hangs on the splash photo). When I go to force quit I notice that when opening FCPX it also tries to open com.apple.audio.infohelper (see attached), which also will not open… Any suggestions? I am using Mavericks 10.9.1 on an iMac.

You have upgraded to 10.9, right (looking at your sig)?
I saw something similar with 10.0.9 when my system drive was full and had become non-writeable. There wasn’t even a message in the system log file. I discovered it when I tried to open After Effects with my Adobe Cache volume disconnected. AE tried to using my Documents folder and reported the disk as not having enough space.

Yes, sorry, I am upgrading from FCPX 10.0.9, never had any problems. I have 1.55 TB left on my drive, so that can’t be the problem….

If you force quit the com.apple.audio.infohelper then Final cut will open immediately after.
you likely have audio plugin(a) that are causing it. See if you can delete them

I tried all of the following, still no luck:
I tried to force quit the com.apple.audio.infohelper when opening after both this and FCP X got a “not responding” message. It didn’t work.
I deleted Izotrope Demo plugins because I thought those might be the audio issues. Didn’t do anything.
I updated FX Factory, that didn’t do anything.
I reinstalled 10.0.9 and FCP X opened fine. Then reinstalled FCPX 10.1 and it went right back to the not responding messages for FCP X and the com.apple.audio.infohelper.
Still open to suggestions, this is awful!

Also, I have tried: Reinstall 10.1, repairing permissions, restarting the computer. Still no luck.

yes it will show not responding, but you still have to click on it and then click the force quit button.
Alternatively you should see a white icon on the doc (which is the same thing) you can control click that and force quit it from there.Do you have any audio 3rd party plugins on your system? In my case it was TrackPlug from WaveArts that was the culprit.

where do I go to look for audio plug-ins? then how do I get rid of them? Thanks David.

Be very careful, but it will be in:
Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components.
In that folder you will find audio plugins.After you force quit you should get a crash report, if you scan it it might reveal the name of the offending plugin

I fixed it. I used AppCleaner to make sure I got rid of all the iZotope files, then when I booted FCPX 10.0.9 it gave me the attached message. I then reinstalled 10.1 and it opened right up… I must say I cringed a little. On the computer I was having the issue with I only had a few small projects. My major film work computer at home has dozens including 3 feature films. I hope I am not heading for a major headache. I am working on a project now, which I will complete before upgrading FCPX 10.1, which is definitely different!
