  Upconverting from 480

  Kevin,
  Thank you so much for your help over the years. You’ve taught me so much. Here is my first question to you.
  Almost all players, TVs and of course, computers will automatically up-convert video. But is it better to up-convert 480i to 720p or 1080i with software, or to let whatever viewing device/software the end-watcher happens to be using do the up convert?
  I believe that I read your response in a previous post saying that Compressor will up convert better than FCPX. So is Compressor likely to up-convert better than “Full Screen” playback on a computer and/or a new TV or projector.
  Most of my videos are watched via YouTube so that is of particular interest to me. I know detail is lost on YouTube, so additionally, what is likely to be my best export for YouTube?
