  Retrieving FCPX projects after crash

  Long Story Short:

  I had a computer logic board fail on me so I had to remove the hard drive from the laptop and put it into an external hdd case in order to retrieve the files. I did have all the actual footage stored on a second drive however, my projects themselves where stored on the boot drive. Now that I have retrieved the files from the drive, I have located the FCPX projects under ‘users>admin>movies>finalcutproprojects>currentversion.fcpproject’

  However, I cant get the project to open on my new computer, thus I have lost my most recent edit. Should I copy all of these new folders to the new cpu hardrive?

  The final cut projects folder has to be located in the same exact location on your new boot drive, or at the top level of your external drive. Just move it to the top level of the drive it’s on and it should show right up for example.

  Thanks this seemed to solve problem: I copied the entire events/project folders to their corresponding spot on the new computer.
