    Hi
I’m trying to make a new project in FCPX but the drive only appears in the Event Library for a second, then disappears.
I can see it in Finder.
    It’s a Western Digital 2TB ‘my book’
    Formatted: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

However it has Black Magic CC footage on it, and one time I opened FCPX it eventually opened a media import window and seemed to have read the drive as a camera (though it was still named the same name as the drive)

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks.

    Common problem.

It happens when you have an asset on the root level of the drive that X “sees” as a separate drive or card. Card clones such as folders labled DCIM (or one of the other “Drive clone” types) will cause this. Just learn to store all such “virtual disks” inside other folders – and the problem will go away.

So just move them into a folder?
I’ll give that a go. They’re called ‘Day 1’, etc but I’ll try anyway

    Thanks

You might have a folder called VIDEO, PRIVATE, DCIM, CLIPS, etc, and FCPX thinks that your whole hard drive is a media folder.

If so, rename or bury them in another folder, as suggested.

Thank you, that sorted it no problem!
