  • Subtitle Import for FCPX

After several people asked for direct YouTube (sbv) import I implemented the format in the new version of XTI beside the already supported .srt and .stl text files

There is also a new “style note” support which can make life easier in FCPX. Unfortunately FCPXMLs don’t support any effect parameters therefore each subtitle looks like the original Motion Template.
But once you have imported a subtitle XML the “style notes” can be helpful. If the source file (SRT, STL)
supports settings per subtitle a minimized “style note” will be created.
This note is searchable in FCPX and font type and font size can be changed with one or two clicks for all found subs for this category. Unfortunately not all of the style, simple face color and alignment can’t be changed that easy. But you still have the list of what needs to changed
The option to add a marker UUID and save a text file of the converted subtitle sources allows coworkers to check and correct spelling and or grammar. Saving the changes to the text allow to find the changed things in FCPX easily even if their time position has changed.
The option to name the subtitles makes it easy to find them by name – without the annoying bug in FCPX’s find text.

The app will be free till end of the week, up from then it will only be free for 50 titles at a time. You still can split your source files convert and merge them within FCPX.

    Hi all,
I am trying to import subtitles into FCPX 10.2.3. I am using XTI 1.8.5.1 to convert my “.stl” into a “FCPXML” file that I can import into my Library. I exported an FCPXML file containing only an empty text generator and using this, successfully converted the “.stl” file into a FCPXML file.

The problem is that FCPX will not import the new FCPXML file.
It comes up with the following error.
“DTD validation failed. (ID ts 1 already defined)”

After this I tried importing the FCPXML into DavinciResolve and it did import, although the text did not have a subtitle box and was placed in the middle of the screed rather than the lower third.

If anyone could help me figure out where I went wrong or how I can fix the FCPXML, it would be much appriciated.

    Thank you,
    Joseph

    Download the actual version.

Resolve doesn’t support lower 3rd or any other title rather than the basic text.
