Move a .mov file after it has been exported
I am trying to come up with a solution for a problem I am having. I would like to have a Automator move a file from one location to another after Final Cut Pro X has exported the .mov file. The problem I have been having is that it starts moving the file before it has completed the export from FCPX and then the file just become corrupt. I would put a size limit on the move but the video sizes differ.

Can you tell automator to wait a certain amount of time (longer than any export time you anticipate), before moving the file?

I don’t know Automator, but either Charlie’s idea or perhaps it’s possible to delay the action you want Automator to perform until 30 seconds of non-action in the folder you’re watching. That way, it’ll move the file only after FCPX finishes exporting.

You can add a post export action that runs the Automator script once the export is complete. I used to use this to run a script that sent a push alert to my iPhone when a long render was done.

Try this: save the Automator Action as an “Application.” Then set up your Share output options: Open with/Other … and point to the Automator application that will move the file.

My suggestion works. Set up your Automator Application like this:
Share from FCPX sends the output to my Desktop. The Automator application then moves the file to the “TEST” folder that I designated.

Thanks for the help, I feel kinda stupid that I did not figure that out myself but at least I have this forum.
