    Hi guys

I have a quick question, I am thinking of buying FCPX on my mac book pro but l am looking to buy a IMac when the new system comes out. Will I be able to move FCPX from one computer to another with no problems? Or if I was to keep my laptop as well as the iMac will my purchase allow me to have FCPX on both machines?

    Thank you

    Robin

It’s tied to your appleID / AppStore acct, so any computer using that acct (all your personal computers probably) can have it installed. In fact, all you’ll have to do is open up the apple store app an go to purchases and you’ll see all your purchases you’ve made on the old system and just redownloading. No limit on number of installations that I know of.

I have another question, but it’s in the same ‘area’.
I know you can install it on all your personal computers, and I have. What I haven’t tested it out yet, is, can they work at the same time?
For instance, can 3 machines with the same license render out in FCP X or Compressor?
It used to be that FCP would say: ow there is another computer on your network with the same license, I won’t run…

And if it DOES work, work all the plugins too?
If those DON’T… Does it lock up your ability to render and work without that plugin on your computer?

    Thanks for any advice.

[Mathieu Ghekiere] “For instance, can 3 machines with the same license render out in FCP X or Compressor?”

Yes. I believe the limit is 5, through I don’t know if that’s actual limit in the code. Only ownership.

[Mathieu Ghekiere] “And if it DOES work, work all the plugins too?”

I doubt it – at least for any third-party plug-ins NOT purchased through the App Store. These would be individually activated with only one machine allowed per user. If it’s not node-locked, then you could launch FCP X with plug-ins on multiple machines. But since these are only intended to be used on one machine. If these machine detect each other on a network, the first machine up will lock out the others’ use of those plug-ins.
