  • FCPX generating audio wave form – crashing

I’m having a distinct problem with FCPX today.
Multiple force quits later and I’m asking anyone here for their advice.

    MBP 2011 running 10.8.2
    FCPX 10.0.6
    Compressor 4.0.5

    All software uptodate.

Converted AVI’s to Prores422 in Compressor – they play in QT (audio and video).
Create event in FCPX and import media- no boxes checked.
    Create Project
In the background rendering dialogue under “RENDERING” there is a “Generating wave form…” and the beach ball just keeps spinning ad infinitum. (40 mins was the max I left it).
    Force quit FCPX.
    I have:

    1. Review Final Cut Pro X documentation

    2. Verify that your computer meets the system requirements for Final Cut Pro X

    3. Ensure Final Cut Pro X is up to date

    4. Verify that the ProApps QuickTime Codecs are installed

    5. Make sure you’re using a media format or device supported for use with Final Cut Pro X

    6. Check third-party compatibility

    7. Hide Events and Projects

    8. Test with known-good media

    9. Reset Final Cut Pro X preferences

    10. Remove and reinstall Final Cut Pro X

Done all of the above. FCPX still crashes/ hangs.

    Any ideas, anyone, please?

I had installed the latest FXFactory v4.0 previously and then gone through the uninstaller; restarted and installed the previous version.

Other than that, I have nothing else but FCPX & Compressor on my MBP.

    In need of help,

    Lawrence

Try trashing peaks data from your event folder with fcpx quit.

my .6 gave me a lot of beach balls to. I went to my Disk Utility and did a repair Disk Permissions and have not had one problem since. I had seen others talking about that on another site so decided to try it.

    So far so good.

I think I should have come to “Dr” Garchow’s offices before the Apple ones!

As ever Jeremy, you were spot on.

    Regards, relief,

    Lawrence

Ha! Doctor I am not, but I’m glad you’re up and running!
