A thread in the debate forum got me thinking again about the 10.0.6 upgrade and the possibility of no OS 10.6.8 support. It certainly is not unreasonable that this would happen with a big FCP X update.

I never updated to 10.0.5 because I’ve basically had good luck with 10.0.4 and stability. According to Apple- https://support.apple.com/kb/ht4589

    10.0.5 added:
-Fixes an issue in which changes were not properly saved when working off a SAN.

-Improves performance when switching between projects on a SAN.

-Fixes an issue which could lead to Multicam Clips losing their Roles after relaunching Final Cut Pro X.

-Allows for YouTube uploads longer than 15 minutes.

-Correctly marks in and out points for spanned clips imported using the Sony Camera Import Plug-in PDZK-LT2.

None of those items mean anything to me and I’m one of those “if it ain’t broke…” kind of guys.

I won’t have time to update the OS until 2013, but at that point, I’ll go up to 10.8.3 or 10.8.4 on my 2011 17″ i7 MBP and then update all my software including FCP X.

    In the meantime:

    1. Any advantages that you can think of that would entice me to update to 10.0.5 from 10.0.4?

    2. I’ve backed up all my versions of FCP X since 10.0.0. Anyone ever try to go back a version when an update made something worse? Is that possible? I’ve never seen it brought up before.

    Thanks,
    Dave
