  Rotoscoping For Novice

  Hi there,

  Please help me!

  I have some old footage from the 60’s (B+W) of a man walking from left of frame to right. I want to cut him out (frame by frame) if need be and replace the background.

  I have never used After Effects before and just cannot find a way of doing it. I don’t know how to draw the matt let alone track the movement… please help me!

  Using After Effects CS4.

  To fast track learning roto, watch Mathias Mohl’s videos on his scripts “Tracker2Mask” and “Keytweak”

  Roto can be time consuming but with patience it’ll be great!

  But I second Dave’s post. Learn the basics of AE first before you try to work in it. Otherwise it will end in tears.
