  exporting “favorite” clips only

  I’m new here so hopefully i’m not repeating a question.. i didn’t see it before i posted. I am editing a wedding video on FCPX and have a ton of footage. what i usually do is set my in-out and favorites in all the clips and reject the unwanted ones before beginning the timeline. Is there a way to export only my “favorited” portions of the clips I kept to a hard drive, as i may now take these clips to my friend who works on FCP7.

  At this point in time, there’s no way to trim media to make new (shorter) media

  What you could do is sort your Event by favorites, throw those clips in a Project, then choose to “duplicate” or “Copy” the project with the “used clip” option and it will move only those clips in the Project to a new Event.

  It will be the full clips, not the trimmed favorites. If you have rejected complete clips and not included those in the Project, they will not get moved.

  Hope that makes sense.

  You could also buy Xto7, export an FCPXML and translate that to an FCP7 XML if you want to keep the specific cuts in tact.
